Hall of Fame Criteria and Details​

ALL ELECTIONS

 

The responsibility for the Hall of Fame (HOF) Annual Award shall be assigned to the Region VIII Honors & Awards Committee (Committee).

 

CANDIDATE CRITERIA

 

Said Committee will provide recommendations for candidates based on the following criteria:

 

1. Eligibility shall be open to all past and present Region VIII members living or deceased.  (See below for number of candidates for Inaugural and Future elections.)

 

1. The Committee shall use the following as a guideline in accessing potential candidates: 

 

• Direct Regional Service (Officer/Committee Chair)

• Indirect Regional Service (Supporting an employee’s service to ASHRAE)

• Financial Support of Region

• Society Level Distinction

• Promotion of Regional and/or ASHRAE values in the community

• Technical Advance of ASHRAE

• Adherence to ASHRAE Code of Ethics

 

ELECTORS

 

Electors are composed of past Regional DRCs and the current DRC.  Electors will be appointed by the current DRC at or prior to the President Elect Training (PET) meeting in February. (Note: If one or more of the candidates are past or current DRCs, then these individuals need to excuse themselves from voting).

 

VOTING PROCEDURE

 

The candidates shall be selected by no less than four (4) voting members of the Committee, plus the Regional Historian who only acts in an advisory capacity.

 

The votes will be tallied before the CRC. The winning inductees will be announced to the public by the current DRC at the HOF induction ceremony and awards presentation at the Chapter Regional Conference (CRC). The HOF induction ceremony will become a special yearly addition to the CRC Awards Luncheon.

 

AWARD

 

The Regional Honors & Awards Committee shall provide the HOF award (as a crystalline/acrylic trophy - $60 each – with a total budget of $240). It will be engraved with the ASHRAE logo and this inscription:

FIRST INAUGURAL HOF ELECTION

 

CANDIDATES

 

The Committee shall present to the Electors up to eight (8) candidates for consideration at the PET in February 2019.

 

VOTING

 

Electors for the 2019 election will have one (1) ballot containing eight (8) proposed candidates with four (4) candidates ultimately being selected per ballot.  Based on the criteria above, the four (4) HOF candidates who receive the most votes shall be the inaugural HOF class.

 

 

FUTURE HOF ELECTIONS

 

 

The second HOF class will consist of (3) inductees selected from a candidate ballot of (6) nominees, the third HOF class, (2) inductees with (4) nominees, and thereafter (1) inductee with (3) nominees. (Therefore the yearly inductees will be 4,3,2,1,1,1,....).
