In Memoriam: D.W. Gipson
We are saddened to report the passing of D.W. Gipson, a founding member of the Fort Worth Chapter, ASHRAE Life Member and Fellow. D.W. served as President of the Fort Worth chapter from 1979-1980.
D.W. Gipson passed away peacefully on Feb. 21, 2018 at his home in Weatherford, Texas. D.W Gipson was born on January 6, 1923 in Van Zandt County, Texas to Henry Albert and Alta Gipson.
He grew up in Haskell, Texas and went into the US Navy during World War II where he was stationed in Hawaii till the war ended. After the war he moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he raised two sons and a daughter. DW was a registered professional engineer, past President of the Fort Worth Chapter of ASHRAE, Fellow of ASHRAE. He was a partner and Mechanical Engineering Department Manager at Friberg Associates and active in the MEP engineering business in the DFW area for many years. He was a member of the Fort Worth Elks lodge.
D.W loved playing cards, attending church and spending the holidays with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years Norma Gipson, son Danny and wife Suanne Gipson, son Tony Gipson, daughter Deana Crowson, step-son Bill Glover; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons.
